a sound-design installation will most likely be a combination of 4 different sonic elements: > fixed soundtrack: like a recording on a cd, the soundtrack is the same every time it is played and can be looped. > evolving soundtrack: using interactive technologies a soundtrack can slowly evolve and continuously adapt to its environment, reflecting the ‘mood of the moment’ by being linked to particular parameters such as lighting, noise levels, even the weather… for instance, the ambient noises of a bar could be picked up by microphones, treated electronically and played back into the bar, thus creating a perfectly integrated soundtrack sourced by the natural environment. > music-based soundtrack: using more traditional musical instruments and compositional methods. the right ambient composition can stimulate without being intrusive, be pleasing without being too ‘nice’ (not new-age or muzak…). > texture-based soundtrack: no recognisable melodies or notes but rather a form of sound-sculpting, playing with shapes, textures and colours, just like in visual design. ^^^ please get in touch with daniel biro to discuss your requirements without obligation. for more info about daniel biro: www.danielbiro.com |
